For those that keep offering to make us some food, thank you. Two of our good friends, Julia VanStaalduinen and Karen Carmody have offered to coordinate this for us. Julia’s e-mail address is djmvs@sympatico.ca and Karen’s is mkcarmody@sympatico.ca For those from church or those in the Niagara Region might find it easier to hook up with Julia and those in the Hamilton/Dundas area with Karen. Thank you, and again, Thank you.

Hi Marisa,
Life is full of shocks isn’t it? We went through shock when we discovered that our John Michael had to have open-heart surgery at 5 days old. That was over 2 years ago and he is doing great. So why the trial? To grow our faith, to display God’s power through prayer, to change someone else’s life… no one knows. But we do know that we were not alone. Neither are you. As hundreds of prayers are lifted up on your behalf, take courage. Do not be afraid, for God is with you. You will be in our prayers.

Hey Meesie…
I’d make you a great big lasagna,, but I don’t know how it would keep after being on a UPS truck from Grand Rapids. Just wanted you to know that if I could I WOULD!!!
Reading your blogs everyday, and trying to keep from writing everyday.. (I know you have so much to read!) Never think its because the prayers have stopped from your ambassador in the USA!
Love, Kim (and Brad too… turns out we have become quite a team of prayer warriors over the years… we’ll be good to have in your court, unlike me on the grade 8 basketball team)

Marissa,
I was going through a journal that my mom kept while battling breast cancer and going through chemo. I thought I’d share a few quotes that she had written down for her encouragement, and now hopefully yours!
“The incredible journey: I shall fear no evil… for God and my nurses are with me” –10 year old leukemia patient.
“It’s hard to be brave when you are a small animal” –Piglet
We are praying for you, and for your family. We will pray for health, the kind of health that can sustain you through treatments, and for healing, and for moments of joy and laughter through it all. God is good, all the time, just sometimes it’s hard for us to see it! Let us give thanks for the miracles of modern medicine, and for doctors and nurses who can provide so much care. We pray for strength for all of you!
Love, Jess (deJonge), Tim, Caleb and “baby may” Brand

Dear Marisa, Mendelt and family,
In our hearts and our minds Jack and I are much involved in your suffering. Those same hearts and minds are praying for you all and for your parents. God is great, God is good, His mercies never fail.
“Even when I go through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”
We wish you the comfort and encouragement that only God can give and is giving you through your family in Christ and the power of his Word and Holy Spirit.
Love from Jack and Catherine Vander Veen
