If any of you have spoken to me over the last five years, you’ll know one thing…I adore our children.
Yesterday Zion, our 5 year old, woke up and walked into our bedroom backwards. I asked him why he was walking backwards and he told me that today is backwards day at school.
I said that was cool. We walked downstairs and I asked him if he wants to wear his shirt or pants backwards today. He said,
“I’m already wearing my underwear backwards”.
Thank you Zion. You are a beautiful escape.

In the midst of a bad moment here at home, reading your email brought a smile to my face and made me laugh!! The apple must not fall far from the tree cause I could totally see Mendelt doing something like that when we were in Redeemer together, and he would have been about 19 then!!
Have a great night enjoying your kids

So funny!
Zion – you are a ray of sunshine!
Here’s to all things “backwards”!
Thinking of you often and praying . . .

Children are a blessing from the Lord.
Beautiful escapes, indeed—made in His image.
Drink it all in, Marisa…

Hi M&M! Thanks for sharing the experience of Zion! Yes children are precious! So beautiful to read that even with all that you are going thru, you enjoy your children sooo much and make the most of everything! Such examples you are! Thanks! Marisa you are such a tropper with all that you are going through. And Mendelt, such great supporter. May God continue to supply you with strength and hope to you both as a special couple! Love and prayers R&G

They always say, “you know you’re having a bad day if your pants are on backwards and they fit better that way.”
I love the kid stories.

Well Marisa.
We had a VERY similar situation here.
Clay, our oldest son who also goes to Campden (gr. 1) was dressed inside out and backwards! He walked to the school bus backwards and tried to comb his hair backwards.
He won an award in the class for “best backwards day” – but mentioned to me at the end of the day that he didn’t tell anyone that he had his underwear on backwards too!!!
What a blessing children are!
We think and pray for you often – - – actually, every meal our children remind us to pray for “Zion’s mom”.
May God equip your household with peace & strength today!

Awesome story!
Children bring so much joy — our kids really remind me to live in the moment and to enjoy life!
I hope you had many more smiles and moments of joy today.
Love,
Susanne

Hi Mendelt and Marisa,
We had a great time at your party Marisa. Thank you very much. The boys had lots of fun too.
We enjoyed listening to the choir, under Mendelt’s direction, this morning in our church – they did an amazing job. We missed seeing you Marisa, but Jacoba told me that Zion was taking care of you. Take care, Sam & Leona

Hi
I’m Erin VanderVeen. I go to SDCH. Everytime I go on this blog I just have to read this story and I make whoever’s near by me read it too. It makes me wish i could just skip highschool and go right on to kids. I hope one day I will be able to tell these very cute stories about my kids.
Everyone at SDCH is praying for you. Keep strong.
