We went to the Cancer Centre today but found out that Marisa’s white blood counts are too low for her to have chemotherapy today.
According to our oncologist, this is very normal. He said that Marisa “has been on chemo for a long period of time without any breaks so her bone marrow is tired and thus chemo can’t happen today”. Our oncologist didn’t seem concerned. So neither are we.
Marisa is sad because “it isn’t another chemo under my belt” but we are going to try again next Wednesday.
Thanks for all your prayers, comments and love.
Love Mendelt

Chemo or not…we continue to uphold you in our prayers! Here at Cambridge Christian School we pray for you in the staffroom and the kids in grade 6 ask me to pray for “my friend”. They loved your Easter entry about “Dear Cancer” and we had quite a discussion about that! Anyway, continue to live in His strength!!

I can understand the disappointment you feel. I’m sure you boosted yourselves up for the day, but now you can enjoy some “well” time with your family. God’s plans are not always our plans (some times unfortunately) but we must continue living on the promise that He knows what is best for us and He will DO what is best for us. Sometimes easier said than done, eh? We were so pleased that you could attend Zion’s game on Monday, Marisa. It lifted my spirit just seeing your smile at the game! Your family seems to have become apart of our family. Weird? I don’t know, but we all need to have connections with others – in good times and bad, so, just know that the Bezuyen’s are praying and loving and hoping and caring for all of you. Peace be with you all,
Terry Robyn Katryna Emily and Mackenzie Bezuyen.

Try think of it this way…at least Marisa will have another week of feeling good before the chemo hits her again. This way you can celebrate your anniversary with her feeling well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Next week she can put another one under her belt!

We will be praying for your ‘counts’ to go up…that you will not be anxious about your week without chemo…that your body will get wholesome rest…and that you will feel renewed strength in your body before the next round begins.
Shalom,
Gina

That really is too bad that you could not get another chemo overwith, but like everyone else says, it’s awesome that you can spend another week feeling well. And I read that it is your anniversary during this week…congratulations! I hope you feel/felt great that day 🙂
I pray that God will continue to poor our his blessings through the little things in life and that you will have strength to continue on through this journey.

Lieve, lieve familie,
Back in Holland I think a lot about you. We have had such a beautiful time in Canada. It was wonderful to be a part of your lifes for a week! I was glad Marisa had some “good days” :we had fun and we had deep conversations. To me it was priceless and “they can’t take it away from me” (this beautiful experience!). It must have been strange for you to hear that Marisa’s blood was not good enough to get the chemo, while you were feeling better this last week. Hang on, Marisa and hang on, Mendelt! I cannot take a zip of your cups (I read your beautiful article, Mendelt!), but you are in my heart, in my thinking and in my prayers.
Give a big hug from me to the three adorable kids of you!
I love you too! (I didn’t say that)

Hi Marisa,
I’m continuously praying for you as you under-go your treatment. I hope that next Wednesday you are able to receive the chemo. I’m amazed by you, and I’ve never met you. You inspire me.
Love,
Rebecca

I just got home from Quebec, and thought of the blog instantly.
We continued as a class to pray for you while we were in Quebec.
Thought of you lots too.
Wondered how you were lots too.
And now, coming home and reading this, it’s nice to get a little update on how you and your family are.
I feel bad i wasn’t able to baby sit for you the other weekend, i want to make it up to you!
Hopefully next Wednesday you can get another chemo ‘under your belt’.
I’ll be praying LOTS for you, and you are in my prayers tons.
much much love.
