My oldest sister Frances, a wonderful mother of 5, had an old beat up van that had a beautiful sticker on the back.
The sticker was a picture of the earth with beautiful writing, “PEACE ON EARTH”.
Frances told me that every time she drove that van she would say, “Peace on earth…” and then she would add “…and in this van”.
“Peace on earth and in this van”. I love it.
Today for the first time Jacoba put on her own seatbelt.
We are getting closer to peace…

Peace in the car… it reminds me of when I was a kid and every once in a while my mom would say to us, “Do I have to stop and let you out to walk?” I almost found myself saying that recently to smaller family members in my car.
Yes, peace during travels is a grand thing!

Ah, the peace van (by the Petawawa River), I remember it well. We have a newer Peace Van, one that is quite noisy, sometimes happy noisy (joyful, excitied kids), oftentimes not so happy noisy (bickering). Can peace and noisiness coexist?
I now have a new saying, it is torn from a calendar Mem gave me and taped to my kitchen cupboard, “Oh, God, make us children of quietness and heirs of peace.” I have always thought that if my kids would be more quiet, then I would be the heir of peace, but it is actually the other way around. I must be God’s child of quietness (in my heart) and my children will be heirs of peace. I marvel at you, because you are showing ZJZ that you are strong source of strength and peace that they can lean on and depend on. Love you, Frances
